“March” Over to Energy Conservation!
Energy conservation not only means going green … it means saving green, too! And with Earth Day coming on April 22, it’s a great time to practice energy conservation.
Here are 3 tips to begin with:
- Open windows to let the fresh air in. A good rule of thumb is to open windows when the outside temperature is cooler than the inside of your house.
- Set your ceiling fans’ blades to spin counterclockwise and at a higher speed. This direction creates a, downdraft, producing a “wind chill” effect that makes you feel cooler without actually lowering the room temperature.
- As part of your spring cleaning, clean your refrigerator coils. Dirty coils, which are often located behind a grille, prevent heat from escaping, forcing the unit to work harder and use more electricity.

In addition, Sound Energy’s annual heating system tune-ups and cooling system checks are terrific ways to save energy and money – and March is the perfect time to schedule either. And, if it’s time to upgrade your outdated central air conditioning system or replace your old window AC units, ask us about installing a high-efficiency Trane model – it can reduce your annual energy expenses by as much as 40 percent!
