Is it Time to Say Goodbye to Your AC System?

- 11:21 am - August 19th, 2019

We’re sorry to say it, but summer will be coming to an end soon. With this in mind, your air conditioning system will finally get some rest! Before it does, however, take note of how well it runs during these last days of summer and ask yourself if there’s room for improvement – and an AC upgrade!

Here’s what you should keep an eye out for when it comes to determining if your air conditioning system is in need of an upgrade:

Rising Utility Bills

As equipment ages, its efficiency diminishes. It uses more energy in order to provide the same amount of comfort it’s been providing. This results in noticeably increasing annual energy bills

Strange Noises

Under normal operation, all equipment makes noise. However, over time these noises might become louder than normal and stick out among the ambient noises of your home. When the clanging, banging and squeaking seem more frequent, it could be a result of aging.

Poor Humidity Control

If the air in your home has been unbearably humid, your air conditioning system could be failing to properly remove moisture from the air. Not only is excess moisture bad for your home, but it’ll leave you feeling warmer and turning up the AC.

Still Using R-22 Refrigerant

R-22 refrigerant has been found to harm the ozone layer when released into the atmosphere, and since 2010 has been replaced by R-410A refrigerant – a much cleaner and more environmentally friendly refrigerant. If your equipment still uses R-22 refrigerant, it’ll be more costly to recharge the system if it should need it since it’s in short supply.

We’ve seen some humid days this summer, so if your comfort has been costing you an arm and a leg – and has been a little lacking! – don’t put up with it.
